Tooth Whitening is a common method which is used to brighten teeth that are stained or discolored. This method is often referred to as tooth bleaching and this can be carried out using at at-home kit or at your dentist’s office. Your dentist will be able to give you advice with regard to the choice that is best for you based on your budget and your teeth.
Tooth Bonding
If you have teeth which have been injured or have become subject to decay then tooth bonding can help to improve the appearance of your teeth. Common problems that can be improved through bonding include teeth which are broken, chipped, stained, cracked or have spaces between them. A material will then be bonded to the tooth in order to re-color, re-shape or protect the tooth.
Enamel Shaping
Enamel Shaping can be used to modify teeth and improve their overall appearance. A cosmetic dentist can carry this out through using tools that re-shape and sand the teeth by getting rid of the contouring enamel. The process of enameling can normally be done painlessly and quickly which often provides immediate results.
Veneers

Veneers which are also known as porcelain veneers are made to cover the tooth like shell. It is important to note that Veneers can be made to match the general shape and color of your other teeth. A porcelain can be used to reshape teeth that have been cracked or broken. Veneers are also commonly used to cover teeth which have been discolored or severely stained.

The face and indeed your teeth are one of the main things that people will pay attention to when they meet you. Many people are often very conscious about their teeth and they are important both for aesthetic reasons as well as an important part of the food digestive process.
Tooth implants have become very popular and implant dentistry is the area of the dental industry which is responsible for carrying out dental implant procedures. Your tooth implants dental practice websites can be carried by regular dentists providing they have completed the necessary training.

A permanently fixed miniature titanium rod is generally preferred so that the tooth implant can be replaced after every 10 years as a result of wear and tear.
Implants are generally better than traditional dentures because they fit better, are more comfortable and look more natural. This could be one of the reasons why tooth implants are more expensive than dentures.

Deciding Whether To Have A Single Dental Implant Or A Bridge

If you’re missing a tooth either through disease or injury then in the past the preferred option would have been to use a bridge (where a replacement tooth is held in place by brackets placed over the adjacent teeth either side of the gap. Nowadays you’re in the fortunate position of also being able to consider an alternative solution which is a dental implant. In Richmond here at Sheen Dental we regularly use a single dental implant instead of a bridge and it does have several advantages.

One of the main advantages of a dental implant is that it is a stand alone treatment which does not need the support of adjacent teeth. When a bridge is fitted then in most cases the healthy teeth to either side of the gap where the missing tooth once was will need to be shaved down to accommodate the brackets which support the fixed bridge. This can weaken these teeth and have an adverse effect on your overall oral health.Deciding Whether To Have A Single Dental Implant Or A Bridge
Another benefit of a dental implant over a bridge is that it helps prevent the bone loss which naturally occurs when a tooth is missing. The titanium implant is secured into the gum and over a period of time acts like a tooth root, stimulating the surrounding tissue and bone, fusing and forming a strong bond on which to support a prosthetic crown. If you choose to wear a bridge then the gradual bone deterioration will continue.
A dental implant not only looks like a natural tooth but also feels and acts like one too. As a result it needs the same type of care which is daily brushing and flossing in order to retain good oral health. A fixed dental bridge, on the other hand, can be considerably harder to keep clean since the cement that is used to hold it in place may over time crumble or get washed away which means the bacteria can settle and grow on the anchor teeth which are holding the bridge in place.
Finally, a dental implant has a much better and long lasting aesthetic. Over time the gum line where your dental bridge is fixed will recede due to continuing bone loss and this has the result of the metal collar of the bridge becoming visible giving way. This unfortunately means that your winning smile is not quite as it was when your bridge was first fitted.

$4,500 CHEAPER IN MEXICO: WORD OF MOUTH IN DENTISTRY

In September 2015, Katie from the US travelled to Sani Dental in Los Algodones, Mexico for 2 root canal treatments and 2 zirconia crowns. Thanks to word of mouth referrals, and a bit of help from Melvin at MEDIGO, Katie managed to save $4,500 on dentistry in Mexico, and experience something of an anomaly – a pain-free root canal surgery! Here is what happened…

“I had been experiencing mouth pain for nearly two years, and finally felt financially stable enough to address the issue. I visited 2 offices in Scottsdale, AZ and was quoted nearly $6k for 2 root canals and 2 crowns. I felt like I would have to live with the pain forever.

Word of mouth referrals

A friend of mine recommended the website MEDIGO – he explained that it is an international healthcare site that helps you find affordable care, just across the border. I first emailed then shortly thereafter received a call from Melvin at Medigo. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and worked quickly as he knew I was in pain. We had heard about Sani Dental through some other friends here in AZ, and Melvin couldn’t recommend them higher! He called the very next day and said they could get me in, in 4 hours. Lucky for us we only live 3 hours from Los Algodones, so we hopped in the car and headed South.

Getting to Los Algodones

The location was very easy to find once you crossed the border, Melvin provided us with a simple map to help us get there. We found a nice, underground, parking lot next door to the office for only $2/day. The office was very clean, the staff were all extremely helpful and friendly.

Cost of root canals, dental posts, and crowns

They took the panoramic X-ray ($60) and I had my first consultation with Dr. Mikel. He agreed I needed two root canals ($180 each), two posts ($80 each), and two crowns ($450 each) and within 45 minutes I was in the chair being introduced to Dr. Alejandro and his assistant. The process was 100% pain free and Dr. Alejandro made sure of that. They even let my husband sit in the room with me for comfort. The 2 root canals took about 5 hours, but when I left I finally felt better.

Very accommodating…

Sani Dental owns a hotel down the street and if you are getting a certain amount of dental work done they comp you a room! We set up the appt for the temporary crowns and headed to the Hacienda. The next day I went in to the other office and met Dr. Gustavo and his assistant Albert. They were so wonderful, young, fun, and made me feel very comfortable. Dr. Gustavo has to be one of the most gentle dentists I have ever met! They took a mold of my mouth and gave me temporary crowns.

The final stage: zirconia crowns

Typically they prefer that you stay 3 nights in a row to get the work done as quickly as possible, but we had to get back to Scottsdale for work, so we scheduled the crown fitting and install for the next weekend. We went back the next Friday and I was so glad to see Dr. Gustavo again, I was worried they would switch dentists on me, but nope! We stayed one more night at the Hacienda and the following day I got my permanent crowns, and a cleaning ($30), and we were on our way.

Five star review

The entire experience was amazing. International health care made me a bit nervous, but now I’m telling everyone to go to Sani Dental! The best overall part of the experience was saving $4,500 by traveling 3 short hours to Mexico.”

ARE YOU TOO OLD OR TOO YOUNG FOR DENTAL IMPLANTS?

TOO OLD OR TOO YOUNG FOR DENTAL IMPLANTS
If you are missing teeth, you may be researching various treatment options.Dental implants are highly lifelike and permanent replacements for missing teeth. They can also protect your overall oral health for decades to come. However, because implants involve surgical placement, you may be unsure about your candidacy for this treatment. Does your age preclude you from getting dental implants? For most adults, age is not a factor in determining candidacy. Rather, oral and physical health concerns are the most important factors. On the other hand, implants are not typically suitable for adolescent patients. Dr. Steve Brown will examine your jawbone and health history to make sure implants are right for you. He can also determine the most appropriate type of implants for your needs. To learn more about dental implants and age requirements, contact our Fort Worth, TX practice today.

ADULTS AND DENTAL IMPLANTS

Adults of all ages may qualify for implants, and seniors are often good candidates for treatment. At The Dental Implant Place, we’ve given implants to patients in their 90s! Nevertheless, though age in and of itself will not prevent you from receiving dental implants, certain health conditions can determine your candidacy. First, you must be able to tolerate the oral surgery required to place dental implants. The procedure is quick and involves minimal side effects. However, if you are at a high risk for infection, have a blood disorder, or a compromised immune system, implants may not be a wise choice.
One of the most common things that can affect your candidacy is jawbone erosion. When you lose one or more teeth, your jawbone will begin to recede almost immediately. This will deplete your bone volume, and you may not have a solid foundation for the implant posts. Bone grafting or a related procedure can build up your jaw, allowing you to receive permanent restorations. Alternatively, Dr. Brown may recommend small diameter dental implants. These restorations require less bone volume. Therefore, you may be able to receive them with no need for bone grafting.

CHILDREN AND DENTAL IMPLANTS

Though tooth loss is more common among adults, children can prematurely lose their baby teeth. They can also lose their permeant teeth to trauma or decay. Children and teens are not typically candidates for implants. To qualify for treatment, patients must have a stable bone structure. Jawbone growth does not typically stop until around age 17 or 18, although this can vary from patient to patient. Dr. Brown can evaluate older teens to see if they might qualify for implants. If they are not a suitable option, your child can receive a bridge or similar restoration until he or she has stopped growing.

FIND OUT IF IMPLANTS ARE RIGHT FOR YOU

Whatever your age, tooth loss can affect your appearance, self-esteem, and oral function. Many experts consider stable, long-lasting dental implants to be the restorative treatment of choice. Contact our office today to learn more about implants and find out if this treatment is right for you.

Invisible Orthodontics: Your Options Explored

Has your dentist mentioned invisible orthodontics to you? At Harley Street Dentist our skilled dental team have helped many patients straighten their teeth with discreet orthodontic devices. If you dream of straighter teeth but don’t want to wear traditional braces, read on to find out more about the invisible options available.

hermsWe offer a number of discreet orthodontic products at our Victoria dental practice, because we understand that the thought of wearing metal train-track braces can be off-putting to many adult patients with busy social and professional lives. If you are interested in treatment with invisible orthodontics, your dentist will assess the amount and type of correcting needed and will recommend the best products to achieve this – with minimal impact on your lifestyle.
What is invisible orthodontics?
Invisible orthodontics takes the science behind traditional orthodontic treatment and modifies it to create devices that are either entirely or practically unnoticeable to the untrained eye. At our Victoria dental practice we offer treatment with both discreet braces and clear aligners – your dentist will recommend the best option for your individual case after an initial consultation.
Clear aligners
These aligners are made from clear plastic, and are designed to fit over your teeth snuggly. Depending on the type of aligner your dentist recommends, you may be given just one aligner or a series of them.
As well as being practically invisible, aligners have the added advantage of being removable. You should wear them for the amount of time your dentist prescribes, but can take them out for brief periods to clean, to brush your teeth and to eat.
Clear braces
Braces remain the cornerstone of orthodontics, but these days do not have to be made from obvious metal. At Hermes North London Dental Practice in Victoria, we offer treatment with discreet braces that have clear or tooth-coloured brackets and wires. This means that they will blend in with your teeth and will not be immediately obvious.
